We were set to go and then a phone call alerted us to the fact that all Qantas flights are grounded. We couldn't beleive it when we saw what was happening. Talk about being crestfallen. We were all geared up and ready to go and then...nothing.
We sent a long time trying to get through to the customer contact number and got no joy so a phone call to Perth and GM and disturbed her afternoon. She has been brilliant though, keeping us informed of what the news in Oz was saying. We packed up ready to go and orhanised to hear from her when she got up in the morning and saw what was happening. So 0130 I was texting her and we decided that there was no point in going to the airport and subsequently we had it confoirmed that flights to Singapore and Perth were, indeed, cancelled.
The latest we have heard is that no flights will be in the air with qantas till early monday morning (GMT). However we are skeptical of that. GM is going to rebook flights for as early as she can get them so we shall see.
Meanwhile we just have to sit with no furniture and wait and wonder. Not a good situation for any of us but at least it gives Anna and Marcus a chance to get over their colds.
